Standing Committees
Four major Standing Committees comprising members of the elected body are actively functioning in the Block Panchayat.
As per the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, the four Standing Committees are Finance, Development, Welfare, and Health & Education.
The Finance Standing Committee deals with matters relating to finance, budget, taxation and general administration. The Vice President of the Block Panchayat always serves as the Chairperson of the Finance Standing Committee.
The Development Standing Committee is responsible for the implementation and supervision of activities relating to agriculture, animal husbandry, public works and development projects.
The Welfare Standing Committee deals with matters including poverty alleviation, social welfare, and women and child development.
The Health & Education Standing Committee handles responsibilities relating to education, health and other related matters.
These committees play an important role in the overall development of Koovappady Block Panchayat by carefully studying issues in their respective sectors, preparing development proposals and making recommendations to the governing body for appropriate decisions.
